Campers jump off the wharf

Being in or on the waters of Muscongus Bay is a daily occurrence - swimming off the dock, sailing and navigating bay and harbor, fishing for mackerel, taking canoe trips upriver, or motor boating to the mainland for field trips. Our fleet of boats includes three outboard motorboats, six canoes, and four sailboats ranging from 6 to 24 feet.

On the ball field we play baseball, soccer and "Capture the Flag", then sharpen our skills on the archery range.

Our unique island campus provides us with opportunities for a variety of activities in the wilderness and on the water.

Fifty acres of woods and rocks make the perfect setting for camping and cookouts, studying the local ecology and geology, and, of course, games of "Manhunt." Nearby mountains and lakes offer excellent hiking and swimming areas.

SAFETY

The physical and emotional well-being of our campers is our highest priority. We know the most important defense against accidents is a strict policy of prevention. Constant supervision and guidance make this possible. We ensure that at least two staff members are trained and certified in medical emergency response, and can take care of the usual scrapes and bruises.

The camp is prepared for more serious emergencies with plans for evacuation to the large, modern hospitals in Damariscotta and Rockland, each within 20 miles. There is a fast and reliable local ambulance which can be made available within minutes.

All boating and swimming activities are supervised by a lifeguard and conducted within the guidelines and regulations of the US Coast Guard and local law enforcement. All campers are required to wear lifejackets in any boat.

ACCOMMODATION

The camp's central building is the lodge, which houses the kitchen, dining room, and indoor activity spaces. In bad weather campers play table games, arts and crafts, dodgeball, and get wrestling lessons. Boys and girls are housed separately in the 15 cabins available. Each group of 4 to 6 campers has its own counselor.
